Right Reverend Ifedola Senasu Gabriel Okupevi, B.A.(Hons), M.A.

He earned a Bachelor’s and Masters of Arts degrees in Christian Religious Studies from the Lagos State University. He is on the verge of receiving his doctoral scroll from the same institution (LASU).

Beginning his rise to the top in the liturgical assignment, Ifedola Okupevi was ordained a Deacon at the young age of 25 on 26th June 1988 at Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, Ikeja, Lagos, and was later ordained (a priest) on 25th June 1989 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Mushin, Lagos.

For hobbies, Okupevi enjoys Praying and Meditating, Reading Inspirational and Church History Books, and spending quality time with family. The Lagos Diocesan Bishop-Elect is also very much at home with peasant farming.

He has been involved in some reputable global engagements such as GAFCON, Kenya. Among the Bishop elect’s highlights of the vision for his new role in the diocese is to ascertain spiritual growth, community transformation, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive church environment to as many as are ready to key into the vision.

The Cathedral Church of Christ is the seat of the Bishops of Lagos. The name 'cathedral' comes from the Greek and Latin word cathedra meaning 'chair'.

Although the Provost is responsible for the running of the Cathedral, the Bishop is the principal minister there, and he presides and preaches at major Christian festivals and on some other national and civic occasions.

The Bishop is the Cathedral's Visitor and appoints nominies to the Cathedral Standing Committee as well as licensing its clergy, exercising in these and other ways a care for the well-being of the Cathedral and its work on behalf of the Diocese.

As well as being the Bishop's seat, the Cathedral is a centre for the Bishop to use for his work and mission across the Diocese of Lagos. In the presence or under the authority of the Bishop, clergy for the diocese are ordained at the Cathedral Church of Christ, lay ministers are commissioned, and significant mission initiatives are celebrated.
