Traditionally, Passiontide is the last two weeks of Lent. It is customary to veil in purple all crucifixes, pictures and images and to omit the “Gloria Patri” during this period. The term “passion” is used absolutely of the LORD’s redemptive suffering during the last days of His earthly life, especially of the Crucifixion.
